Clothing and Toiletries
- Recruits are expected to bring three days' worth of regular clothing. Shower shoes are mandatory. If the recruit wears contacts, glasses should be brought instead. At camp, men will have their underwear provided while women need to bring their own underwear and bras. Enough toiletries, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap and deodorant, to last a week also need to be brought. Men must bring shaving gear, while it is optional for women.
- A number of documents are required at the boot camp. Because of the importance of record keeping, it is better to bring documents and have them unneeded than to leave them at home and risk not having proper documentation. According to the Air Force, the following documents are needed: eyeglass or contact prescriptions, medical prescriptions, driver's license, Social Security card, marriage license, birth certificates for any dependents, any certificates from JROTC, ROTC or Civil Air Patrol participation, naturalization papers or alien card if applicable, college transcripts if applicable, and the enlistment contract.
- Recruits are expected to bring a pen, notebook and paper. They have the option to bring stationary and envelopes, stamps, a calling card and a watch. Many personal items are not allowed. These include cards, dice, magazines and books--except those of a religious nature--tobacco products or large photo albums.
