I used to like mowing the lawn years ago - well let me be a little more specific - I used to like mowing the lawn on a rich girlfriends ride-on mower which you could drive around a huge garden.
However now I have to confine myself to more modest means the Bosch Rotak 40 Lawnmower has nearly made me enjoy it again.
I have a big petrol driven Hayter lawnmower which cost me a lot of money - more than I've paid for several of my cars in retrospect.
It's solidly built and looks like a proper lawnmower but to be honest it takes ages to set up and get working and although it cuts well - it's extremely noisy.
The Bosch Rotak 40 lawnmower is almost like a vacuum cleaner you pick it up, plug it in and just whizz over the lawn.
The cut is excellent and you don't even need a strimmer as the Rotak 40 cuts right up to edge thanks to these little grass combs at the side.
Being able to lift up the lawnmower with one hand makes it easy to move around - the powerdrive motor really is excellent - I've cut fairly long damp grass with no real effort.
The 50 litre grass box seems to take a lot of filling as the cuttings seem to get compressed somehow into the collector.
There really is very little wrong with the Bosch rotak 40 lawnmower - the 1700w motor copes with everything I've thrown at it.
I guess you'd have to be suspicious about it's durability as it is nearly all plastic but it seems sturdy enough and mines been fine for 6 months now.
There's a 2 year guarantee as standard so that seems fairly promising.
If you want a no nonsense lawnmower which cuts well and starts with a push of a button then the Bosh Rotak 40 Lawnmower could well be for you - there doesn't seem to be a limit to what it can handle although the fact it needs a power cable will probably limit it for some people if you have a large garden.
